If you're looking for something addictive to stream, look no further, because there is an absolutely fantastic Netflix series about, ironically, addiction. (to alcohol)
I'm late to the game but finally tuned in the funny, poignant, unpredictable, brilliant "Loudermilk" where the chemistry between leads Ron Livingston and Will Sasso is so strong that it could set a room on fire with one misstep...and figuratively does just that in several episodes.
Just finished season one and can't wait to indulge in the next two.
Oscar thoughts:
Not much. I'm upset that "Killers of the Flower Moon" went home without any recognition from the Academy, but Emma Stone's win for "Poor Things" was deserved. Lily Gladstone gave essentially a supporting performance in a very important film, but I'll remember Emma's brilliant portrayal years from now.
I liked but didn't love "Oppenheimer" but I knew going in that it would win Best Picture.
Loved seeing acting awards presented by past winners, loved the intelligent wit of presenter John Mulaney, disliked losing my eyesight trying to read the "In Memoriam" segment, loved most of the fashion (except Ariana Grande..she wore what looked like a fluffy comforter that someone was about to toss onto a California king sized mattress and also, Emily Blunt's gown, that looked like it had a map the dressmaker used to point viewers to her hoohaw). Wondered why Al Pacino read the most important award in the style of the blind character he played that gave him the Oscar for "Scent of a Woman."
And of course, my hall pass, Jimmy Kimmel, was fabulous as expected. I read there was controversy, that show runners didn't want him to read the tweet from Cheeto, but I don't think that politicized the ceremony. I mean, yeah, if Kimmel ended the night with "Gee..Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney just tweeted about the show, but..I don't know man, some of his political beliefs don't align with my own" then yeah, that would be wrong.
But if Jimmy woke up just ONE viewer...not an easy feat during a three-plus hour long show when the Best Picture winner has been crowned for three months now--if Jimmy got one person to see the True Orange Colors, then it was the right decision to read the tweet.
Can't wait to hear what everyone says about "Loudermilk".. feel free to share your thoughts on a Post-It note.
(That's for Ron Livingston's fans who watched "Sex and the City")
