it's not unusual for me to dream about swimming pools..I have pool-themed dreams at least a dozen times a year, but we replaced a seventeen year old liner this week, and the new one seems like..an odd dream.
We replaced our sunny, aquamarine liner that attracted beautiful light from sun beams with something the color of a blue raspberry popsicle(with a trim of grayish diamonds, decorated with what looks like tiny crystal candy dishes inside) and it just seems so..odd..and weird..like a dream you remember for being odd and weird.
The pattern is of a school kid's composition book, but the white swirls are against a deep blue background, not a black one.
I'll get used to it, I know, but tonight, we saw three movie trailers that featured swimming pools, and all three had that turquoise/aquamarine hue.
I just feel like I'm in a stranger's backyard. That's not necessarily a bad thing..I've often done things in a stranger's pool that I'd never do in my own and ..OMG!!..I'm KIDDING!!
Speaking of strange dreams, I had one today that all my cousins that I'm related to via my maternal grandmother, Sarah Moliver Kahn, congregated at Woodloch and wore t-shirts that read, "Molivers' Travels."
I thought we were done with our--with my--favorite vacation spot, but maybe if a bunch of cousins are in the mood to let down their collective hair--or what's left of that hair--we can all try to balance ourselves on lily pads in the pool, all while badly singing a few choruses of "We Are Family."
Also, if you have a favorite book and critics who get paid to write movie reviews tell you to avoid the movie version of that book, listen to them, because they know what they're talking about.
The crawdads of "Where the Crawdads Sing" should have stuck to singing in their showers or cars instead of the big screen. The acting in this movie was particularly bad(not an ounce of chemistry to be found anywhere) and the screen adaptation was weak at best..but I did love the cinematography. And..this is not a spoiler..but for an abandoned kid who raised herself since early childhood, how did Kya have such perfect teeth and hair and health in general? Did she do her own dental work?
It wasn't the worst movie of 2022--but it was far from the best.
The night was not wasted at all..three trailers reminded me of what it was like to have the Caribbean in my backyard.
Tonight, I'll look out and dream about the last image I see before drifting off into a deep slumber, which means I'm going to dream about Papa Smurf...or something/someone colored just like him.
