I am Kranky Karen again, I'll admit it.
And you'll agree by the time you're through reading this.,
Poor Jim's allergies are really bothering him, but that constant nose-blowing makes me feel like I married a goose.
And I don't live in Illinois so I didn't win over a billion dollars in the lottery.
And the waiter spilled Diet Coke all over me tonight(serves me right--I was supposed to give that poison up) and all I got was an apology and a free dessert.
When my father was a busboy for Unity house, a resort in the Poconos for liberal union folk, he spilled iced tea all over Eleanor Roosevelt and got a newspaper shout out, while I just got a free Chipwich and soggy pants.
(And no, my Dad wasn't in that fabulous "First Ladies" series on Showtime, but he should have been)
Jim did give into my whim and replaced a half-dead pool float today.
He argued that the old one, with the rust stains and the holes and the bird poop splashes was just fine.--it just needed some TLC and a good hosing down, but I won that little spat and got a new float, which I stretched out on today and thought to myself that the new liner reminded me of a.. black hole???... and..okay! I'll stop!!
First world problems, I know!
No wonder nobody reads my petty posts anymore. I pour my heart and soul into these ramblings, and Jim conjures up clever titles and transfers them into a blog, but I only get charity "likes" and the occasional comment.
But he posts one stupid pic of a fried flounder sandwich and we're suddenly hearing from folks who haven't thought about us in decades! As I said in a simpler post earlier today, I am no longer going to bare my soul..just my SOLE..if I could ever bring myself to eat something as healthy as fish.
Posting photos of a seafood lunch is just click bait, when you think about it.
Seriously, did people see the image of Jesus in that flounder batter?
Nobody liked my lobster salad photo. I wonder if I spelled it "lobstah" I would have gotten feedback.
Oh! But we DID see what I considered a wonderful, whimsical movie tonight that I picked because of its universally great reviews.
I LOVED it, Jim..not as much, but if you like quirky, odd ducks, then move in with us..I mean..go see "Marcel the Shell With Shoes On."
It's animated, it's adorable, it's a breath of fresh air. And yes, it's about a shell that wears shoes., and it's voiced by Jenny Slate, who has the best gift in Hollywood for audiences who fall in love with heroes and heroines based on their vocal attributes.
I was amazed with all the heart and soul of this little gem..the photography was pure magic.
It's like "Finding Nemo" without flounder sandwiches.
Oh! And the SNL writer hired me again! Well..his wife did..I had to rhyme things like "her renowned blueberry lemon streusel, which I managed to do, grateful that the recipient never cooked with oranges or served anything on silver.
(Inside joke for aspiring poets)
Again, treat your eyes and all your other senses to something special. "Marcel the Shell with Shoes On" is SLATED for lots of Oscar recognition next season.
