Viagra in the city

I finally got to watch the"right" version of "Swan Song" but it wasn't that "right" after all, as in, it was not the WRONG "Swan Song", but it wasn't much better than the  WRONG right one.

I put the con in convoluted, I know.

(Girl's gotta get her kicks from something silly every so often.)

The first "Swan Song" is getting Oscar buzz for Mahershala Ali,  in the movie with the subject matter that I've been cryptic about in my last post on this matter..

That I've been cryptic about.

That I've been cryptic about.

That I've been crypt--oh for God sakes, it's about cloning!

There.

I said it and spoiled it for those of you who were never going to watch it anyway.

It's about cloning.

The other "Swan Song" stars Udo Kier as a German gay hairdresser(it's based on a true story) that roams the streets of Sandusky, Ohio, so he can style the hair of a dead client.

It sounds better on paper.

It's nice that I could watch both features from the comfort of my home, which I guess I'll be doing a lot of next week.  Jim and I always take a staycation and see a movie a day during the week between Christmas and New Year's, but we can't take that risk now.

Usually, on this last Wednesday in December, if you asked anyone if they knew someone who had a cold or the flu, you'd get an answer like, "yep..about twelve people, so I'm avoiding them."

That's the response you get now with Omicron..and of course I'm still angry at those who feed the virus.

I really believe that we can control the virus, but the virus can't control... us.

("Us" being those who believe the propaganda over the science)

Let me get back to discussing safe topics, like nuclear war or what's streaming on Netflix.

Regarding the 2021 releases with the cloned name:

Both "Swan Songs" were good, but they're just not "Coda" good.

But you know what I AM  starting to love as much as I loved "Coda?"

Here's my hint:

It's a reboot of a show about... boots..and shoes.. Manolo Blahnik  shoes, and just like that, I'll stop trying (and failing at) to be cute and I'll just share my opinion.

The show is fantastic!

I had my doubts with the first two episodes, which I liked, but didn't love.

But I just watched episode four(and couldn't stop crying, knowing it was Willie Garson's...um... swan song) and now think that  the show keeps getting better and better.  I am invested in every character.  Every relatable character, and I think the actress playing  Seema Patel(Carrie's realtor turned BFF) is a wonderful addition, and not just because the reboot has some needed diversity, but because she's... great.

I too, "couldn't help but wonder" how the series was going to survive without Kim Cattrall, but it's more than surviving, it's thriving.

I couldn't imagine what a sixty-something  Samantha would be like anyway.

Would she still be having three-ways when a lot of people her age aren't even having two-ways?

 Or even one-ways?

Samantha didn't have a lot of room to grow, and her material would have possibly been very limited.

But the writers are doing great story arcs for Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte..

If there had been  a "Very Special SATC" episode written in 1999 that featured a crystal ball that would have  predicted their futures, I'm hoping this is what would have been predicted.

Maybe without the heart-breaking real-life ending for Willie Garson.

Or Chris Noth.
