Dramedy tomorrow, comedy tonight.
I'm saving "Station 19" and "Grey's Anatomy" and "Tommy" for the weekend, tonight was all about unwinding with some of my regular sitcoms during Must See TV night..
This episode of "Mom" wasn't the season's finest, but all we could think about was how Rainn Wilson's guest character was wasting so much toilet paper--if this so so episode aired three months ago, it would have merely been a necessary prop to make the joke work.
Same thing with "Broke" and the abundance of paper towels.
I don't think Jim and I have ever discussed props in all these decades that we've talked about sitcoms. And we talk about sitcoms a lot. It's one of the reasons we fell for one another.
"Broke" made its debut tonight, the pilot.
We saw the unedited version in October, right before we saw the fourth episode taped live.
It was such a bittersweet moment for us. I blogged about the event in great detail when we were there in October, but we both felt such a ..sadness..
It was barely six months ago, when the future was rosy and the calendar was booked.
Six months ago, when we celebrated our thirty years of marriage with the BEST vacation we've ever had, the combo of L.A and Hawaii.
It was six months ago when the adorable Pauley Perrette schmoozed with us poor hungry suckers in the audience who had no idea how long it takes to tape a thirty minute show, and how delightful she was when she left us, saying "OK kiddos..gotta go act" and leapt onto the set.
I have to believe there will be days like this again, happiness like this again.
As long as we do what we're supposed to do.
These are not the days to be selfish, to believe the quarantine does not apply to us.
Having said that, I really liked tonight's episode of the HILARIOUS "Superstore"..the most underrated comedy on the tube. "Brooklyn 99" had its madcap moments, "Young Sheldon" was sweet and satisfying.
And I am asking this one more time before I get some much needed escapism that only REM sleep can offer:
